A lot of churches do Easter celebration services, so a springtime recap is always a good idea.
It just so happens that this recap needs to be reviewed again as we move into fall. And if you haven't begun preparing for any upcoming events, now is definitely the time to start getting your head in the game.
You can check out some of my recommendations for a proper review and planning process here.
Fall is a great time to start preparing your team for everything that will be needed during a special Christmas or Easter service. No, it's not too early!
Remember how stressed out you were last year? Think about recruiting some additional volunteers and properly training them to help out with all the minutia that crops up during a live production event.
Has your leadership team discussed plans for what's happening in the next 6-12 months that will impact your tech team? If not, ask. It's perfectly OK to be proactive.
And remember to be a solutions-oriented member of your team.
It's easy for us tech geeks to always find the reason why something can't work this way or that way. I always like to challenge myself to think ahead and look for solutions to potential problems before they come up.
Be sure to reach out to other technical teams as well. If your church has a lighting, video, or staging/production managers, stay in touch with them and be sure to stay in the loop with what they are planning. Perhaps there are even some cross-training options for you to take advantage of in case someone gets sick or doesn't show up for a critical moment.
All that to say, look ahead and be prepared!
