Howdy!
My name is James Wasem. I've got a passion for great sound and for helping others learn how to get it!
Here's a little bit about my background.
(Please feel free to browse as much or as little as you like. For efficiency, there are links to several guest blog posts, my book, and social media connections towards the end of the page.)
This might sound like a familiar story: I've been a drummer and musician for 25+ years, which led me to working with sound systems.... naturally. Hey, we all need a "day job"!
What began as a focus on music and electrical engineering turned into a professional career in the commercial audio/video systems integration and contracting industry.
Since 1999 I've had the pleasure of being an installer, project manager, systems designer, and sales engineer for a handful of small companies in the Pacific Northwest.
It didn't take long for me to get involved in running sound and working with technology at my church.
That's when I realized how important the role of the church sound tech really is - and how there seemed to be a lack of quality resources to help "audio rookies" navigate the dynamic world of live sound.
Which is...
Why I wrote Great Church Sound (link to my Great Church Sound "about" page).
This book has become an Amazon international and #1 bestseller.
What else does this guy do?

My interest in audio technology led to an opportunity to be a co-founder in a live streaming company in 2013.
Gigee.me is a website created to help musicians live stream their events to audiences around the world - and get paid for it.
Gigee.tv is the specialized consulting service to help companies and individuals understand and successfully deploy live streaming technology.
My experiences in live streaming inspired me to write a couple books specifically for musicians and businesses.
So, there are the highlights!
(If you're really bored and crave more trivial details, check out my personal about page.)
I look forward to being in touch with you again soon!

James Wasem has been fascinated by sound and electricity from an early age. His love of music and technical gear made sound engineering and systems integration a natural pursuit. James has spent the last 20 years performing and touring in bands as a drummer, mixing live sound for churches, schools and theatres, and working as an audio systems installer and designer.
Though involved in highly technical fields, James has a passion for making things simple to understand and easy to use. It was from this passion that the book Great Church Sound – a guide for the volunteer was born. James believes that technical ministry volunteers provide a critical service for their congregations and should be well equipped with quality tools to help them grow in craft, skill, and spirit.
James and his wife Kate (who also provided the illustrations for Great Church Sound) live in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Missoula, Montana.

James has been "making things work" from an early age. Starting at the intersection of electricity and music, he quickly migrated to sound and audio/video systems integration as his focused profession. With over 20 years of live sound, engineering & contracting, and performance experience, James has constantly been involved in the business of making things work - on the stage, in the shop, on-location, and in the office. His varied interests are complemented by his skill sets in: sound system design, installation, and training; systems integration design, programming, and deployment; project management; sales engineering; technical support; drumming & live performance; live online event streaming; and operations management. Though involved in highly technical fields, James has a passion for making things simple to understand and easy to use. And one day he hopes to play the hurdy-gurdy.
