It's already June! Wow.
And because of that, it's vitally important to prioritize the time we have.
I've decided that June is the month for me to do a little priority house-keeping. We're half-way through the year, so it seems like a good time to reassess.
Have you thought about your priorities lately?
Obviously there are lot's of priorities in life! So let's zero in on our priorities related to sound...
I started running sound over 22 years ago, and I've been working professionally in the audio industry for the last 17 years.
Despite that seeming like a "long time" there is one thing that I'm always reminded of:
You must -always- be learning.
Running live sound presents a new learning opportunity every time you turn on the console!
To be honest, I've fallen behind the past several months in keeping up with some of the new audio technology that is constantly adapting and changing the way we experience live sound.
So I'm going to super-charge my learning this month.... by going to InfoComm.
For those of you that don't know, this is a large trade show for the professional and commercial audio/video industry. There are tons of exhibits, and a lot of great classes taught by industry veterans and respected audio pros.
I'm not a trade-show junkie, and I can get "convention fatigue" very quickly, but this is an important opportunity for me to dig deeper into some new technology and learn from amazing industry professionals. I'm looking forward to the challenge!
Again, what are your priorities for sound going to be this month?
Maybe it's learning a little bit more about the art of EQ.
Maybe you want to learn how to select and use microphones more effectively.
Perhaps your mix could use a little more "space" between the instruments. How does that work?
I'd love to hear what you're planning to learn this month. Maybe we can learn together!
